Silas wakes up groggy and immediately asks, "Where's da da?" I say, " He had to go to work and teach. You slept late and missed saying good bye to him." Silas replies, "He went to teach? no say bye?". "That's right baby, you were asleep when he left" and to that Silas says, " I need pants".
I get to have conversations with my little bean now. We get to explain things and he kind of gets it. That has been the big mental change lately. Its subtle, but our conversations have evolved and through that new understanding, he has new preferences and understands himself better. For example, lately, when I get home from teaching around noon, he will take my hand and say, "I need a little nap" or " booby upstairs" and then he chooses the bed he wants to take his nap in. Who knew it could be this easy!

Our soon-to-be newest little addition has his own preferences as well! His preferred position is with his little butt up by the right side of my ribs and his head down where his little fingers can tickle and punch all sorts of unknown internal places. He wakes me or I wake him most nights between 2 and 4am and we hang out for a bit. I either get a little bowl of cheerios, read or do some yoga to convince my mind to go back to sleep. He seems pretty responsive now at 26 weeks and I'm enjoying the attitude.

| See the belly creeping in to the picture? |
We stopped by Smith Mountain Lake and had the first real summer hang out on the water. Si would jump in the water from dawn until dusk if he were allowed. Literally, he would swim until he just passed out on the floating dock. He even jumped off the boat, right as we docked, in all of his clothes…and then complained his clothes were wet! Goofball!!

Let's see, we had our 6th year anniversary!!!! We went hiking out by Badin Lake and swam briefly, despite Silas screaming to get out (I'm sure because it was way too cold compared to the swimming pools..oh yeah and he was naked!!). It really was just what we needed to do.

Andrew is a hard working man and is not only teaching quite a few courses this summer, but has also taken on a project he proposed to help out the math department at SPCC. I totally understand how overwhelming it can get when you have deadlines and a toddler running around ( the entire last month of my Spring semester! ugh). Also, the more pregnant I become, the more desperate I get for female companionship. So I took Si to go visit one of my best friends in Durham and left Andrew to have a day or two over the weekend to work. It was a great trip and Si was amazing. I am constantly in awe of him.
