That's right ladies and gentleman! We have a new little bean heading our way!! And of course…its a boy!! He is due September 16th and has been as perfect as an unborn baby can be ;). Si hasn't really acknowledged the idea of a sibling yet. I think its because that idea means nothing to him. But he has acknowledged the idea of a baby and that the baby will need milk from boobies, that he then promptly says are his.
We started this blog when I was 27 weeks with Si. So it seemed fitting to begin introducing our new little boy close to the same time. I am currently 22 weeks. By now I can feel all kinds of little kicks and bumps that are at defined times through out the day depending on if he is sleeping or if I ate something sweet. The only similarity between this pregnancy and my first is the lack of nausea. I'm not really into coffee ,just like my pregnancy with Si and salty, spicy food is awesome. That being said, I began showing with this one before 12 weeks ( Si at 16 weeks) and was definitely wearing maternity clothes by then. My hips hurt way more with this one thanks to everything being loosey goosey from the last little bean. Most of these symptoms didn't show up until the middle of my third trimester with Si. The sweetest part of a second baby so far is that I have been able to feel this little boy since the end of my first trimester and I couldn't feel Si until the middle of my second trimester. Yay babies!!! We are SO excited to meet his new baby boy!!<3
Oh, and for all of the pregnant and breast-feeding women out there that LOVE their coffee rituals, this is a little something the post-doc in my lab bought me. It is a Polish roasted grain beverage that is caffeine free and healthy for both mamma's and kids. It tastes great!!
In other news, before the end of the semester, things were feeling so crazy we decided to take a weekend trip to Edisto NC. It was Si's second time seeing the ocean and his first time being able to get in. He loved it and asks to go see the ocean all the time now. It was a little too cold for my tastes, so I sat back and watched Andrew and Si play and splash. We rented a camp site for the night in the same place that Andrew and I went with all of the biology graduate students from ETSU in 2010. It brought back warm fuzzies =).

It's been a tough end of the semester. I had an avalanche of endless science that was due all at the same time. Final presentation, final paper ( ended up being 15 pages long and having around 49 references, to give perspective) and lets not forget EXPERIMENTS as if my butt was on fire, because we had to get results together for the Immunology conference we were attending May 8th. Finally, I have a review paper I am writing that is in the mix as well. So Andrew took on evening child care while I ran away to work all night every night for the last three weeks. He and Si , of course, did great. But I can't tell you how hard it is to stay up until 1 or 2 in the morning each night listening to them sleeping in the next room. Oh, and pregnancy made negotiating staying up non-stop a terrible task. All I can say is Andrew is amazing and we survived it. He is now finishing up his semester while I hang out with our boy and will be done with graduations tomorrow (May 13th).

Finally, Andrew has started a fantastic garden this year and I can't wait to see all of the delicious goodies that come from it. Our first bounty was a radish! =)~
