Almost 3 months old!

Silas's sleep habits have continued to develop. This video is him telling me "mommy, I am tired, why the heck am I not sleeping right now!" fuss fuss fuss.

He has moved his own bed time back an hour and has started sleeping almost 12 hours at night. He is still feeding at night but it is totally manageable. He is also taking pretty consolidated naps now.

Napathon!!

The little man has figured out those hands of his are tangible and has started making little prayer hands. He's developing just how google says he should! ...oh yea and our pediatrician....as a matter of fact he's apparently ahead of the game on all of his chatting and hand holding for his age.

He's getting to be a strong boy and have more head control too! He rolled over on his sides for me recently and is looking much more comfortable during tummy time.

My friends from grad school came over the weekend. It was so much fun seeing them and hanging out again!

Silas has graduated to the big boy seat on his stroller. So much easier than moving his car seat all over the place.
going running!

Silas can't wait to meet the new lady of the family, Layla,  a 7lb 3oz beauty born March 24th!!!!!! Congratulations Sara and Mike!!!

10 weeks old and sleeping like a champ

Ok, we have officially figured out how to snap our child into his ridiculously safe car seat! And I even tricked him into smiling while he was in it!

Silas is doing great! He received enough vaccines to make me cry at his 2 month visit. He was a happy bubbly baby until the second shot. It was very dramatic for about 10 minutes after the nurse left the room. He measured within the 50th percentile on everything and is now a 12lb baby! The soft spot on the back of his head has closed...one less creepy spot on his head to avoid. I have tackled the cradle cap and have reduced it down to a very small strip on his head. I have also been lubing this baby's face up with Eucerin to get rid of some of the dry skin that likes to accompany seborrhea in babies.

Andrew took me shopping! He said the holes in my clothes were ridiculous. I love this picture of my boys...yes they snuck into the changing room for a minute. This was after Silas's 2 month check-up. He was exhausted from all of that attention.

My friend Ashley came and visited the little man. She just got back from wrapping up the first two years of medical school in the Caribbean and is waiting on the results of her USMLE exam. Ashley is a friend of mine from undergrad.

The apple certainly does not fall far from the tree! Our son is a social butterfly just like his daddy. Although I'm starting to wonder if I talk so much to him (meaning I'm essentially talking to myself....coo coo) that he thinks he needs to talk back.

New developments for Silas is his self-established nap times. At about 9 weeks I found I was able to lay Silas down for two long naps in the morning if I turned on the fan we run at night as white noise and rocked him until he was mostly asleep. I would then just lay him tummy down on the blanket I keep in our bed (so it smells like me). Magic! Over the past week he has become like clockwork with these naps. The afternoons are a different story but it means he's spanning out his feedings in the mornings too!

fish lips!
happy boy!

I know current research says this could increase the chance of SIDS. However, I check on him regularly, have a monitor on him and make sure he is clear of all dangerous fluffy objects. The boy likes to sleep on his tummy...so do I!! I can't blame him.

That's all for now!!

Uncle Bob & Aunt Jane Extravaganza!!

That's right ladies and gentlemen, for the first time since he was born, Uncle Bob and Aunt Jane came and played with Silas!! He needs to know these people because I hate to break it to him but we will definitely be renting beach houses with them in the near future during the summer! Oh yea, and I hear camping is on Rob's list to learn.

Anyway, we had a blast hanging out with them!! Silas gave them lot's of smiles and thought uncle Bob sounded hilarious. Although Rob held Silas like a hand painted egg, he was a natural with getting that kid to smile.

Aunt Jane loves holding a sleeping baby as much as I do =). He can sleep in his own bed when he's older. He is too precious to not cuddle with right now! And the least smelly he will ever be!! Although Rob and Jane still aren't sure about that whole diaper changing business.

We went over to Dad and Yvonne's Saturday afternoon/evening. Yvonne got to hold Silas for probably 5 minutes before he was snatched away by Rob, Jane, Andrew and myself. Sorry Yvonne =(. More baby time on our next visit!

Finally, on Sunday, his Nana came and watched him for a little bit while we all went and played frisbee golf! She's the best! She also got him to take a bottle. Turns out I need to allow more bottles in Silas's life. I didn't realize that despite the fact that he had taken bottles previously, if he went long enough without one, he would just stop taking them. She said she had to sweet talk him into taking it. Looks like daddy gets to feed him for once. I need to stop being so possessive =). When she told me that, I envisioned a child strapped to me while in class because he could never be left....NO!!!

Speaking of classes, Andrew and I have both been accepted to PhD programs at UNC Charlotte!!! Andrew is doing a math education PhD part-time and I am doing a Biology PhD full-time starting in August.

Today Silas goes to the pediatrician for his two month check-up. It looks like he has a little cradle cap but otherwise we are sure he will get a clean bill of health. We'll keep you posted!

monkey man!

The moby wrap is slowly becoming my new friend

Mac has no issues with the baby, he'll cuddle regardless
