31 Week Check-up:
Andrew and I went to see Dr. Arronte on Thursday for our 31 week check up. The little boy seems to be doing great! His heart rate was 164 bpm, a little elevated from his baseline. She said that was something they actually like to see. It was a healthy sign and he probably just liked breakfast! They measured my uterus and it measured 31 1/2 inches so he's just where he should be. Finally, he's still head down and hanging over on my right side as he has been since about 28 weeks.
I've started reading about what to do with newborns...since I've NEVER taken care of one! Although I feel like I already have a good idea of how he's going to be once he's born. He has wake and sleep patterns now and definitely responds to different stimuli. He knows when Andrew is talking to him and when I am. My favorite is when our grey cat Roscoe drapes himself across my stomach and purrrrrrs. The baby pokes at him the entire time. I think Roscoe likes it.
The baby shower is coming soon! I'm more excited about his party than I ever was about mine.

Halloween Baby Pictures
Andrew and I went to doctor today to get a complimentary 3D ultrasound the office offers. I always love seeing him and I think its great when Andrew gets to see him since he can't feel him all day long everyday. Although lately he has been kicking and moving around so much Andrew has had no problem interacting with him. So although the pictures from the 3D are completely creepy and perfect for halloween!! we got a pretty good idea of what his little nose and mouth looks like. He has this cute little button nose and pouty lips. He also has a thing for his fingers and likes to keep them in his mouth. Its probably why he has the hiccups all the time!

While I was lying on the table for this ultrasound I started to sweat and became really nauseous from being flat on my back. The tech had me role to my side and this is when the little stinker pulled his hands under his head and smiled in this last picture. It's just sooooo funny when mommy gets sick.
On an unrelated baby note, I started teaching yesterday at Central Piedmont Community College. I taught two, 3 hour classes in a row of intro biology. I really enjoyed it, but I was beat after lecturing for that long!

29 weeks
Medical Extravaganza:
The doctors visit yesterday went great. Andrew wasn't able to make it due to work which made the visit far less entertaining. I drank the hawaiian punch flavored glucose drink and it actually wasn't too bad. Tasted like hawaiian punch!
The baby was head down and his little heart was pumping at 152 beats per minute...perfect.
This next Tuesday we should have some good 3-D pictures of the baby.
Nursery:
I spent a few hours Friday and built the baby's crib!! It is awesome!

The Big Bang!
Our first son will be here in about 2 1/2 months and we are so excited we thought a blog would be a great way to keep everyone up to date on his development!
We are at 28 1/2 weeks (~7 months) right now and he kicks, punches and has the hiccups ALL the time. The third trimester has proven to be the most difficult part of the pregnancy for me...although mild in the grand scheme of things. His size has made it harder to breath and has definitely done a number on my lower back. I never thought I would say " oh my sciatica!"at this age. Andrew thinks it is funny.
Andrew and I go swimming at the YMCA most days. I finally decided I was going to scare small children with my giant tummy and bought a maternity bathing suit.

Baby Stuff:
We have acquired a few baby items that we are definitely excited about. Our friends have been so supportive and amazing. Because of them we now have a new stroller and a pac-n-play. To top it off, my dad and his wife Yvonne recently bought a crib for the little stinker and we can't wait until it arrives!!
Medical Extravaganza:
This week we go to the doctor on my birthday, October 11th, for a 28 week check up and the glucose test. I love that this is how I get to begin my birthday!! Eggs and a delicious orange, sugary beverage for breakfast =).
Next Tuesday we get to see him on a 3-D ultrasound! I think this is the closest we'll get to seeing what he really looks like before he is born...oh yea...and confirm that he is definitely a "he" =).
