Sparta alllll over again!!! ( 4yr 11mo, 27mo)

As I watch my sweet, baby Isaac thrash on the floor, crying " don't talk to me!!" Because I closed a water bottle...or moved to a different spot on the couch...I remember from Silas, This Is SPARTA!!!!!!! The flailing emotions tumbling down the endless pit and as the voice inside of me rages at the insanity that is my toddler, I rally all of my executive function, compassion and empathy to introduce the calm his wild mind and heart needs.

Silas, on the other hand, is busy evolving his comprehension of human interaction and it can be such an infuriating task when it comes to his little brothers animal like antics. There is a lot of talk in our house right now about how to cool down, ways to manage frustration and when to walk away.

All of that being said, these two are starting to have such amazing play sessions together! They independently each have beautiful moments of emotional clarity and never doubt their love for each other or our family.

Thanksgiving was loads of fun because we got to play with Clara!!! We also got to see lots of family we almost never get to see anymore.

The boys had their first dentist visit and it went great all things conaidered. I praise pediatric dentists. It was exactly what the boys needed. Isaac only had an exam and had to be in my lap with a very convincing dentist. She was quick, kind and very good with him. He has a tiny cavity on an upper tooth that I had been watching for some time. She confirmed it was nothing to worry about and we would just keep an eye on it. Silas only had a little staining, and otherwise was good to go!

Happy holidays!!! We will see you in the new year with a fresh 5 year old!!

Sharknado (4.75yr & 2yr)

Adjusting to two little boys running around has been ...how do I put this...like sharknado?

With SO much love though!! Silas is in the throws of becoming a full blown little boy with all of his leaps and bounds occuring mentally these days. Isaac has reminded me of why I felt the need to internally belt out " THIS IS SPARTA"!!!! when Silas was 2. We need a fierce amount of executive function in action to help him through the tantrums that just sweep over him sometimes.

I won't shame my babies by mocking their pendulum of often irrational emotions, so here are pictures of our norm. Because as intense as both of them can be, more often than not, they float right around each other, Silas teaching Isaac and Isaac his shadow. Each at the perfect developmental stage for their time and space.

So much time is spent outdoors. They thrive without the four walls closing in on them and so do we. West Virginia is truly amazing and beautiful.

Silas goes to Greenbrier Episcopal School five days a week from 8:15-12:15 and absolutly adores it.  They are magic with those children and he is gaining so much social knowledge right now.

Isaac loves to drop off and pick up his brother too! He says hi to other kids, plays for a bit and then we go. At lunch, he likes to sit down and eat some of silas's lunch with everyone. It will be a very easy transition into pre-k for him.

That about wraps it up for now. We might have some big changes in our future, I will let you know as it all unfolds!!

Our little loves fall asleep easily and gently to books, snuggles, and milkies each night.

Baby days of summer and beyond

I'm not sure what it is that triggers me to write in this blog. It definitely is a mood that has to strike and when it does, I pour out what has happened over the missed time since we last spoke. I have procrastinated for a while now, but perhaps this morning I had just enough sleep deprivation combined with coffee to finally get my act together. Either way, here it is! Another long stream of pictures scattered like the memories we make and often forget the details of until someone says something in just the right way, or a smell hits your nose.
West Virginia
May is where we left off. With babies this young, I might as well have waited ten years to write this blog!! These last few months have been filled with friends and water. It all kicked off with some of our oldest and best friends coming to see us over a weekend. Caleb, Amber, Lyla and Myra came all the way from Boone NC and played with us until our children could play no more. Literally, they were emotionally exhausted from all of the fun and still they would try and rally themselves to play more.

And yes, I left off for a second time in August…until now….November.

Again, it has been eons as far as my little ones are concerned and since this time, so much has happened, I can not possible put it all into words. So here are pictures you can create a story around to fill in the last six months.
